A striking mid-19th-century botanical engraving depicting Clianthus puniceus, the distinctive kaka beak flower. This hand-colored plate captures the species' dramatic, curved crimson-pink blossoms with golden accents, rendered against reddish stems and broad, intricately veined foliage. The composition exemplifies the bold, sculptural aesthetic and rich color saturation characteristic of Curtis's 1840s publications. Engraved and published by William Curtis and successors, circa 1845. An exceptional example of period botanical illustration, suitable for framing or collection.
